How about a quick getaway to the San Diego mountains? Julian is a great place for a San Diego weekend staycation. This tiny town offers amazing attractions, culinary experiences, and seasonal weather (winter, spring, summer, and fall).

My new friends Tera and Rich Walker have been working really hard on their Julian vacation rental, Cottage on a Rock. They invited me over for a Julian staycation, and I am so excited to share my experience with you!

This may be a cabin in the woods, but it’s not exactly roughing it. It is a newly-renovated cottage fully equipped with all your needs, plus a few bonuses. The cabin sits on a hilltop lot with an amazing treetop view. Outside there are multiple seating areas. Throughout the yard, there’s a fire pit, hammock, inviting deck, and a newly added hot tub! Relaxing in the hot tub under the stars was by far the best part of my stay!

Inside, the house has modern finishes. Tera ad Rich did a wonderful job of making it feel cozy yet spacious. The kitchen has all the basics for those who want to cook. It is just a quick drive to town so takeout from a local restaurant is an easy option too. Just remember, Julian shops close by 5 pm and restaurants close by 9 pm.

Overall, I had a wonderful experience staying with the Walkers. Their hospitality is great. Living in a tourist town means that I am always helping visitors have a great day off or vacation. I often get so caught up in work that I forget to take a break and enjoy the wonderful destination I am blessed to call home. This quick staycation refreshed me and gave me a few ideas to help serve all of you better.

Cottage on the Rock isn’t the only place to experience the Walkers’ hospitality. They also own Richard Walker’s Pancake House and a few other destination AirB and B’s.

PS. I left some Mountain Made candles here. Enjoy!
